This is a comment I saw twice today and what the comment shows is that pet parents do not understand what kibble is...and that's OK, we do the best we can with the knowledge we have at the time BUT we must be open to having our current belief systems challenged.
Kibble is an ultra processed "food" - so I want you to take a moment and think of a human equivalent, it mightbe a boxed meal from the store full of non-food ingredients to stablise and preserve the contents, it might be a powdered shake - you wouldn't read these ingredients and say 'they're amazing". Kibble also contains synthetic nutrients to balance the contents because it is so processed. These synthetic nutrients are not absorbed and utlised by the body in the same way whole food ingredients are.

๐How much meat is actually in the kibble regardless of if it is the #1 ingredient. Many kibbles including "premium" contain more plant matter than meat.
๐The quality of the ingredients. You don't know if the "Chicken Meal" is simply carcass or the "Salmon Meal" has been cut with starch to make it go further or is just the Salmon Frame left over from human processing.
๐You don't know where the synthetic vitamin and mineral mix comes from - did it come from China and potentially adulterated?
๐You don't know how your dogs body will absorb and utalise the synthetic nutrients it contains to balance it because it's been so processed it can't rely on the natural nutrients.
๐You don't know if the manufacturer is testing their batches frequently to ensure there isn't a deficiency or toxic level excess of a nutrient - for example, Hills Science Diet Excess Vitamin D saga.
๐You as the consumer don't generally understand that some of the ingredients used are not for the health and well-being of your dog, they can simply be there to boost the protein level with plant matter vs animal matter, they can just be there to bind the kibble together vs add actual functional nutrition to your dog.
๐You don't know the carbohydrate percentage of the food unless you sit down and do the math or go searching for the information, so you don't know how pro-inflammatory your dogs kibble is.
๐We could go on and on, but know this, no kibble can have "amazing ingredients" because after it's been cooked up to 4 times and then balanced with synthetic nutrients to provide your dog with a MINIMUM level of nutrition those ingredients don't mean that much compared to the ingredient panel of a whole foods diet that you know your dog is going to be able to absorb and utalise as mother nature intended.
โ Are you ready to feed your dog REAL AMAZING INGREDIENTS?
